IKEA’s latest collaboration with Sonos combines a Wi-Fi speaker with displayable art for the home.
The SYMFONISK Picture Frame Wi-Fi Speaker was first unveiled earlier this month, and will be rolled out online and in stores in Europe and North America in a couple of weeks.
While the device doesn’t function as a fully customizable picture frame, users can still select from several default art prints to hang over the speakers, which are kept hidden within the frame. The speakers, though unseen, can be controlled using the Sonos app or with controls on the back of the picture frame.
Despite the speakers being hidden, the sound quality is still powerful enough to fill an entire room. The Picture Frame speaker can be connected to other products within the SYMFONISK range, or other Sonos products in the home.
From July 15, the SYMFONISK Picture Frame Wi-Fi Speaker will retail at US$199, available in both a black and white version.
“The space-saving picture frame speaker can hang on its own on the wall as an eye-catching art piece, be matched with other art on the wall, be placed on a shelf or on the floor, leaning against the wall. The interchangeable fronts make it easy to choose a style that suits your individual home,” said IKEA Product Developer Stjepan Begic.
