This week, Beyond Meat is debuting its brand-new meat-free chicken tenders in nearly 400 restaurants stateside.
The new tenders will be Beyond’s first chicken substitute in over two years, after the brand discontinued its frozen chicken strips alternative in 2019.
According to a press release, the new meat-free substitute is made from a mix of fava beans and peas, offering a total of 14 grams of protein per serving.
These tenders also contain 40% less saturated fat than regular chicken tenders. They are made without GMOs, antibiotics, or hormones, and naturally contain no cholesterol, making it a healthier alternative.
Beyond Meat CEO Ethan Brown said that the new recipe was created with scale in mind, so it will cost less as the tenders become more widely available across the US. According to CNBC, he also said that Beyond Meat plans to offer more substitutes in the poultry section, though it hasn’t confirmed if the vegan chicken tenders will be available for purchase at regular grocery stores.
As of now, they are only being rolled out to restaurant chains and independent eateries. For more information on where these meat-free tenders will be available, click here.
