These fries are anything but an ordinary side to your entrée. In honor of National French Fry Day in the US, New York City’s Serendipity3 has created the world’s most expensive fries – ever.
Awarded this accolade by the Guinness World Records, the ‘Creme de la Creme Pommes Frites’ are available for US$200, no small part in thanks to the luxurious ingredients used to make them.
According to Food & Wine, Upstate Chipperbeck potatoes are first blanched in a mix of Dom Perignon Champagne and J. LeBlanc French Champagne Ardenne Vinegar, before being thrice-cooked in pure goose fat hailing all the way from Southwest France.
The cooked fries are generously seasoned with Guerande Truffle Salt, tossed in Urbani Summer Truffle Oil, then topped with shaved Crete Senesi Pecorino Tartufello – “made of milk of sheep that graze on the clay-rich hills of Crete Senesi, dotted with black truffles foraged from valleys and forests in Volterra and Miniato, Italy.”
Before serving, the chefs top the decadent dish with shaved Black Summer Truffles from Umbria, Italy, before sprinkling on 23k edible gold dust to make the dish even more fancy.
How about the sauce? Well, it’s equally exquisite: a Mornay sauce made from Udder Cream from Jersey cows, Black Truffle Butter, and Gruyere Truffle Swiss Raclette.
Not to mention, since you’re already shelling out for the world’s most expensive fries, you’ll get to eat them on a Baccarat crystal Arabesque plate, with the sauce in a matching crystal bowl, of course.
To purchase a portion of these fries, you’ll have to submit an 48-hour advance request to the restaurant before heading over. They’re not typical fast food, after all.
“New York City has reawakened and the world is thrilled that Serendipity3 is back and better than ever. We are so honored to be recognized by Guinness World Records for our creation of the most expensive French fries, the Creme de la Creme Prommes Frites, and look forward to creating even more over-the-top recipes in the future,” said Joe Calderone, the restaurant’s creative director.
