The new Taycan electric car has been revealed by Porsche, and the 2022 make is including a few key updates to its features. Plus, it now comes in a striking pink color for a truly outstanding look.
Porsche has detailed that the car has undergone “extensive technological developments.” Remote Park Assist, a highlighted new feature, will allow drivers to use their smartphones to control parking when navigating parking spaces without needing to sit behind the wheel.
The car manufacturer explains that the system “automatically detects parking spaces and measures them using the vehicle’s ultrasonic sensors and camera systems.” When enough space is available, the driver can then use the Porsche Connect app interface to press and hold a button, allowing them to “drive” the car while standing outside.
Remote Park Assist then takes control of the vehicle to steer it into place. As soon as the button on the app is released, the Taycan stops moving.
Another notable improvement is that thermal management has been further optimized, and Turbo Charging Planner will enable the battery to be heated to a higher temperature than it previously has.
This, in turn, enables fast charging at a higher level, and waste heat can be used for battery temperature regulation. Electrek reports that it’s jumping from a top charge rate of 270 kW to a teased 350 kW.
Porsche is also offering Destination Charging, an exclusive service that allows its customers to plug their vehicle in at any Porsche Charging Service point without having to pay. Currently, almost 200,000 charging points are sprawled across 20 European countries.

Apart from Apple CarPlay, the Taycan, dubbed a “connectivity pioneer” by the company, will also be able to support smartphones running Android Auto thanks to better integrations in its Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system.

And a bit of colorful fun: the company is bringing back its cult-favorite colors from the 90s. Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus will see the Taycan being more customizable than ever before, adding 65 colors to the pre-existing range of 17. These include Moonlight Blue Metallic, Acid Green, and Rubystone Red, which is presumably the one teased below:
The 2022 Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo will be making their appearances at US dealerships this year. It has been reported by Porsche in the news release that the Taycan has found astounding success this year, delivering almost 20,000 units in the first half of 2021, which is just only slightly fewer than its 2020 sales as a whole.
