Many companies have been hopping on the sudden uptick in popularity of NFT art, most notably CryptoPunks. Porsche, Gucci, Campbell’s, Visa, and Coca-Cola are only a few examples.
But popular beverage brand AriZona Iced Tea has taken it one step further and developed an entire comic strip in collaboration with popular NFT art project Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC).
Announced on Twitter, the company states that it has “some huge things planned” with a “huge surprise reveal” on the Bored Ape Comic website. This reveal turned out to be that—you guessed it—the comic itself is an NFT.

Comic #1 “introduces an amazing cast of bored Apes as they Enter the Metaverse.” Panels show the famous apes taking on the world, which, of course, has AriZona branding tucked in all its corners. Limited to a 10,000-copy run, it’s available to mint for 0.04 ETH.
Interestingly, despite the AriZona tweet mentioning the official BAYC account, the comic’s website states clearly that “We are not officially affiliated with the Bored Ape Yacht Club.” Instead, it calls itself “a community-run project by Bored Ape owners/lovers.”
However, there doesn’t seem to be a problem, as a section on the FAQ page reveals that the Apes’ original creators are aware of the comic: “They’ve seen the project and dig it.”
Apart from the comic, the trio behind this project—self-proclaimed “ape lovers”—have also established the Bored Ape Comic Collective Vault (BACC Vault). Proceeds from the comic will go towards purchasing more Apes, they explain, which “will be featured in subsequent issues & storylines, increasing their profile.”
Metaverse-friendly “social experiences”, presumably for owners of the comic, are also planned. And, a physical copy may also come soon, depending on the economics of the project.
STAY TUNED!
