IKEA is throwing a house party, and everyone is invited. Come September 16, the furniture giant will host the first-ever IKEA Festival, a global 24-hour virtual event inviting all to find inspiration in their homes and those of other parts of the world.
Practically all the good things you want in a home—art, design, food, music, and company—will be available here. Dubbed as “a home tour around the world,” the IKEA Festival will resonate with anyone looking to find home makeover or no-waste cooking inspiration, as well as allows them into the homes and studios of artists for intimate concert performances.
The event will feature artists, chefs, creators, designers, and musicians from more than 100 homes spanning 50 markets worldwide who will convert their “living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and backyards into virtual stages for performances and experiences.” It’s an extension of IKEA’s “Life At Home” philosophy, and one that sweeps the globe.
Apart from seeing the unique ways designers and IKEA collaborators have done up their living spaces, guests will participate in cook-offs demonstrating “healthy, planet-friendly and no-waste recipes are shared,” as well as learn how others have been living more sustainably and affordably.
Guests will also get a virtual tour of IKEA’s factory floor in Zbąszynek, Poland, its prototype shop in Älmhult, Sweden, and even a digital IKEA museum walking them through the brand’s rich history. Additionally, there’s something for the gamers, as IKEA lets them into a home illuminated with its own gaming range.
“Life at home has taken on a whole new meaning for every one of us over the past year, and by being virtually connected, we can open the door to many more lives around the world—exploring how we all live, celebrating individuality and creativity,” explained Olivia Ross Wilson, Communications Director at Ingka Group (IKEA Retail), in a press release. “Our first IKEA Festival will be our biggest global home tour yet and will bring people together around life at home in a new way, both online and in our stores, and will be the beginning of a longer-term movement of real homes and real lives.”
There’s no need to RSVP, and participants everywhere can pop in whenever they wish within the 24 hours from 8AM CET on Thursday, September 16 (11PM PT, September 15, or 2AM ET, September 16) . The IKEA Festival will be hosted on IKEA.com/Festival for free.
