Even though most of us already had an inkling, Apple has officially announced its next launch event will take place on September 14.
It’s likely the iPhone 13 lineup will be revealed during the event, even without the tech giant explicitly saying it.
“We’re California Streaming on September 14th. See you real soon,” tweeted Senior Vice-President Greg Joswiak, along with a video of the invite.
In the video, you’ll see an Apple logo-shaped artificial reality (AR) portal cast on the background. The camera then takes you “inside” the portal, to a shadowy landscape of a lake.

While Apple hasn’t explained the meaning of the invite, many people feel it’s a signal that the company will be releasing more AR or mixed-reality capabilities together with its iPhone 13 launch.
Here’s how to see the AR portal for yourself, as per TechRadar. First, open Apple’s event page on your mobile browser (only Safari or Firefox), and click on the image for the September 14 event. Your camera app will then pop up with an Apple icon, which you can tap to activate the portal.
After which, feel free to move your phone around to see more of the portal. Inside, you’ll be the date of the event written. Plus, according to app developer Guilherme Rambo, you can even look back at your own surroundings through the portal!
While that’s all the Easter egg has to offer at the moment, it’s by far the most exciting invite Apple has released thus far. Will the iPhone 13 boast serious AR features? We’ll find out soon enough.
