The Unicode Consortium has announced it has officially finalized Unicode 14.0, after delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The latest installation will add 838 characters to the text on our smartphones, with 37 of those characters being new emojis.

According to Engadget, the new emojis will be rolled out from now till the end of 2022. You can expect to see several interesting additions as previously reported, including a melting face, heart hands, salute, versions of a pregnant man, beans, a coral, and even a bird’s nest.
Plus, this update includes variations of different skin tones for the handshake emoji. Previously, due to technical issues, this particular emoji couldn’t be modified to represent different skin tones. Now, after working for nearly two years on the problem, the Unicode Consortium has finally found a solution to allow the modification.
