Do you love the look of analog cameras but also need all the high-tech features? OPPO’s Kodak-branded ‘Photographer Edition’ smartphone is the embodiment of that.
Announced at its event on September 16, the model is, in truth, OPPO’s existing flagship Find X3 Pro smartphone but with a retro exterior and special-edition packaging. Drawing inspiration from Kodak’s classic 35 camera in design, the phone sports a black leather rear with a matte silver finishing on top.

The ode to an icon extends to the packaging, a pill-shaped box that kind of looks like the original Kodak 35 case, according to GSMArena. For those who absolutely need a protective case for their phone, there’s even a cover with the exact matte silver and black leather design so that slick design doesn’t stay hidden.

The Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition is the first product of a new partnership between OPPO and Kodak. However, DIY Photography reports that it’s possible Kodak didn’t have a hand in the model’s development. It’s more likely that the analog photography giant had simply lent its branding for this special smartphone, like it has done with other collaborators.
Be that as it may, it’s only right that the Kodak image be associated with a worthy product. The Find X3 Pro does boast a quad-camera configuration with 50-megapixel wide and ultrawide lenses with Sony IMX766 sensors, a 32-megapixel selfie camera, and a macro camera with 60x magnification. It can supposedly process and display a billion colors due to its 10-bit color management, and those who wish to snap cool underwater shots can do so for up to 30 minutes at a maximum of 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) in freshwater, thanks to the phone’s IP68 rating.
Core features include the powerful Snapdragon 888 chip, 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display, 4,500mAh battery, 120Hz refresh rate, and fast charging.
But is the model worth it? This comparison footage of the original OPPO Find X3 Pro against the highly-raved Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, demonstrated by the The Tech Chap, might give you an idea.
For now, the 35 camera-inspired design is just for the Chinese market, but if not this smartphone, here’s hoping future Kodak-branded products will be made available in other parts of the world.
