Back in 2019, IKEA teamed up with Sonos to create a range of speakers disguised as table lamps. Since then, the Swedish furniture maker has gone on to create other discreet home products, such as an air purifier that doubles as a side table.
Now, fans of the SYMFONISK range will be delighted to know that the second generation of illuminated speakers promises to be even better than the original. The new lamps allow for more customization, with the base and lampshade divided so you can choose the best color for each part.

According to Input, IKEA has made the base of the lamp smaller, so homeowners can display it in tinier areas. A brand-new socket has also been added, which can support a wider array of lightbulbs.
The lampshades, too, have been updated, with two different options to choose from. The textile version is a white cloth material, with the light shining out from its perforations. The glass lampshade, on the other hand, surrounds the entire lamp, and is available in either or darkened glass.
Not forgetting the music, Sonos included a brand-new acoustic architecture, which promises to deliver better sound. As with the original, the lamp can connect to other Sonos speakers, or to another SYMFONISK product. According to 9to5Mac, the new models will also feature AirPlay 2.
The new SYMFONISK line is scheduled to launch on October 12 in the US, and will head to Europe next year. The base retails for US$140, with the lampshades going for US$39 for glass, and US$29 for cloth.
