If your state is susceptible to wildfires, Google has just introduced a brand-new feature to Maps that’ll make it easier for you to spot these sites around the country.
Upon opening the Google Maps app, users will be able to choose from several layers, depending on what they’d like to see. For example, there’s the option to check out wildfires, transit, traffic, or even a special COVID-19 tab that shows you the virus’ hotspots.
For more details, or if you spot a new fire near you, simply click on that specific area to see its boundaries. This will aid more people in evacuating should there be a large wildfire that’s out of control, and could even help save lives.
This brand-new feature will be available for Android users in the US by the weeks’e end, with iOS and desktop versions expected to launch some time in October. Google is also planning to expand the tool to Australia by the end of 2021.
