If you think heading back to the office means leaving behind hours of video calls, it may not be the case. Zoom and HP have teamed up with workspace firm ROOM to create a conference space built especially for video calls in the office.
Cleverly named the ‘Room for Zoom’, the entire setup is a hybrid of ROOM’s modular single-person Focus Room, HP’s Collaboration G6 27” All-In-One touchscreen, and, of course, Zoom.
“When it comes to discussing the post-pandemic office, the one thing that has universal agreement is that video conferencing is here to stay,” said ROOM co-founder Brian Chen.
While that may not be ideal for everyone, it’s a relief that you won’t see construction going on in your office around the clock. The entire project comes flat-packed, just like IKEA furniture, and can be installed in just hours.
Each booth will come with a height-adjustable desk, power sources (so you never run out of power!), silent fans and ventilation, and even built-in LED light strips to give you that “glow” whenever you’re on camera.
“Conference calls are simply more pleasant when you don’t have to worry about how your background looks to those with whom you are speaking, or worry about who is going on walk-in,” explained Ty Buell, PSO Solutions Architect at Zoom.
