As offices open up, you’ll be sharing your space with coworkers you haven’t seen in ages. Sure, the first 30 minutes of bonding over lost time might be just what you need, but beyond that mark, you’re probably going to miss your alone time and headspace.
With hybrid workplaces in mind, the Microsoft Office Envisioning Team conceptualized chic office ‘Flowspace Pods’ as “sanctuaries” for when you need solo work time for deep productivity.
The cozy felt modules are visualized with automated privacy “wings” that close at the sides to block out distractions, leaving users alone with their desk. Meanwhile, the space is hued with color-changing ambient lights to help occupants focus, and binaural beats serve as a relaxing noise-canceling feature.
The desk itself is optimized for concentrated work. The computer display is mounted on nearly the entire wall, allowing for up-close views of the screen and higher-quality video calls. Adjustable angles let the user complete tasks without straining their neck.
And when you’re done with this isolation, you can simply step out and resume collaborative work.
