Freelance marketplace Fiverr has just launched its brand new advertisement campaign, taking the form of a compilation of fast-paced, exciting clips showing the vast and inspirational potential of its clients and services all to highlight… well, nothing.
What is nothing? That’s perhaps a question best saved for the philosophers. But in this context, the nothingness represents potential—the starting point for every business dream or creative goal that can be achieved with the help of the pool of talent on Fiverr.
There are millions of people who are “sitting on incredible business ideas,” the company states, but only a small number of those will actually see these ideas become their reality.
Starting any new project is daunting, especially when it might require a specific skill that the pioneer doesn’t have themselves. For example, they could be fantastic at writing, but need someone to create a stunning book cover.
A study carried out in collaboration between the firm and YouGov showed that out of the participating American adults, 25% of respondents revealed they had a business idea in the last 18 months. But 59% never pursued their idea, and 58% of this group attributed it to “lack of resources.”
This intimidation in kicking off a new pursuit is what Fiverr wants to tackle with the Nothing campaign, showing that the freelancers on the platform can fill that missing gap in order to kickstart that idea and truly bring it to life.

“2021 has presented a major shift in the way employees view work—people are putting autonomy and flexibility above all else, some are even leaving their jobs to take time off and pursue their passions,” notes Gali Arnon, Fiverr’s Chief Marketing Officer.
“This new campaign is hyper-focused on the businesses, products, or services not yet created but are still just an idea,” Arnon explains in a statement. Thousands of incredible businesses have come to life with the support of expert freelancers on Fiverr, and we're looking forward to seeing thousands more grow into world-class companies.”
The “Something from Nothing” campaign was developed in collaboration with Ostrich Studios and represented by By The Network.
Although nothing takes center stage in this campaign, the visuals still needed to be developed somehow. These lively designs were made by creators on the platform: designsbysaba for the visual brand look and logo; erman11 for the T-shirts; sarahroseandrew for the illustrations and packaging design; joannaan for lettering and calligraphy; yambostudio for 3D product animations; and petru_huja for the video game.
“We want anyone with an idea to feel inspired to take the leap and do something to bring that idea to life,” Duncan Bird, Fiverr’s VP of brand management, tells Muse.
“Whether you need someone to help you with graphic design, merchandise designs, SEO optimization, video editing or other services, you can find the right Fiverr freelancer to take your idea to the next level.”
