In one of the most unlikely mashups to date, a collaboration by Gucci and Xbox could soon be coming to stores near you. Earlier this week, the two brands shared a short—but telling—exchange on Twitter.
“Saying ‘GG’ at the end of every game will never go out of fashion,” Xbox tweeted.
In game-speak, the acronym refers to “good game,” but is also coincidentally Gucci’s monogrammed initials.
“We couldn’t agree more,” Gucci replied to the post.
This partnership won’t be the fashion house’s first tie-up with a gaming brand. For example, last year, Gucci teamed up with Roblox to create a digital museum, in which it sold in-game versions of its signature Dionysus bag. One copy of the virtual purses even sold for more than its in-store price, fetching US$4,115 online.
According to Highsnobiety, Xbox has recently launched collections together with PLACES+FACES and Adidas Originals for its 20th anniversary. Gucci, being one of the biggest fashion names in the world, would undoubtedly be the gaming console’s “crown jewel” partner to commemorate its two decades.
In pictures released by the site, it appears the collaboration could involve suitcases co-branded with both Xbox and Gucci insignias, though not much else about the collection has come to light.
Will you be getting your hands on one of the most anticipated collaborations of the year? Both brands are so popular, we wouldn’t be surprised if it sold out immediately.
