If you’re the type to look up ratings of movies and television shows on IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes before hitting “watch” on Netflix, here’s some good news for you. The streaming service has officially launched its own website, where it will rank titles on “top 10” lists around the world.
Aside from having one major global ranking, over 90 different countries will get a list specific to residents’ tastes. Ernst & Young, a major accounting firm, will be brought in to audit Netflix’s numbers, so viewers can rest easy knowing that the lists will reflect real-time favorites.
According to Recode, the charts will reflect the top 10 titles in a category (e.g. English films), how many weeks it’s spent at the top, and how many views it’s garnered.
With the company churning out more original productions, it’s no surprise it’d want to advertise how well its ratings are doing across the world. Not only will this attract more investors to the service, but top-tier talent could be drawn to participate in future endeavors based on this information, too.
