Google Ushers In Beijing Winter Olympics With A Cute Yet Clever Doodle
By Ell Ko, 04 Feb 2022
The Beijing Winter Olympics are about to get into full swing, and here to remind us of that fact is, of course, none other than an iconic Google Doodle to commemorate the occasion.
Celebrating the start of the Games on Friday, February 4, this animated Doodle incorporates an adorable animal team demonstrating some of the sports we can expect to spectate during this year’s events.
These include, but are not limited to, snowboarding, ice dancing, and curling.
“The competitive critters featured in today’s Doodle have gathered from all over the world under the winter sky to keep their cool and put their opponents on ice,” writes Google. “Who will be pouncing on victory and scurrying home an international legend?”
Although it hasn’t been pointed out by the firm itself, the animals’ stances seem to be shaped and arranged in a clever way to still spell out “Google,” albeit sneakily. After all, it wouldn’t be a Google Doodle without it.
This year’s Games will see its opening ceremony held on February 4 and closing on February 20, the 16 days in between hosting over 100 events.
Despite an array of obstacles so far, from diplomatic boycotts to having to use almost entirely fake snow, we’ll still be sure to see some spectacular sporting feats there.
