Inaugural Metaverse Fashion Week Will Be Open To All, Mark Your Calendars

In what looks to be a great ode to the inclusive stance that fashion wants to uphold, fashion weeks are now offering front-row seats and exclusive goodies to the masses—enviable perks often associated with influencers. At least, that’s for Metaverse Fashion Week, the first of its kind to be hosted by 3D world platform Decentraland, one of the prominent venues of the metaverse.
While fashion shows have previously been pulled off in this realm, Metaverse Fashion Week aspires to be the most official of them all, presenting itself as an enduring central stage for global brands to showcase their looks.
Here, catwalk avatars will flaunt those styles to an audience of virtually thousands. A mix of couture, wearable, and shoppable pieces will be on display, allowing attendees to directly download several of the items modeled on stage and own them virtually. Some of the clothing will also be available in the physical world.
Stretching for four days from March 24, Metaverse Fashion Week will include showrooms, shops, and talks, in addition to the runway, Vogue Business reports. Not to mention, it will house after-parties and live music sessions, in line with what traditional events have had to offer. Brands can purchase virtual land to facilitate these venues and sessions.
Within these stores, guests can even scan a QR code from their phones to view digital pieces in their homes, via augmented reality.
Hugo appears to be the only label that has publicly confirmed its appearance at the event. However, according to the publication, more companies have enquired about participating ever since Decentraland announced Metaverse Fashion Week in December.
Most of the shows will be fully accessible by the public, though to own a wearable, guests would have to register with an Ethereum wallet. A few participants are considering offering VIP access.
With names like Nike and Adidas already diving deep into this world, a full-fledged fashion week seems to be the obvious next step.
