Adventurers and romantics alike hoping to get a little groove back into their lives might fawn over this miniature, albeit authentic, recreation of the beloved Vespa 125, which itself is a faithful descendant of the classic Vespa Piaggio.
The design teams at LEGO and Vespa have combined forces to bring this quaint, 1,106-brick remake alive.

And when it comes to detail, the power pair has left no stone unturned, packing as many elements as possible into a tight 13-inch x 8.5-inch long frame.

A lovely pale blue swaths this scooter model, a nod to one of the earliest colors used on the Vespa. To a tiny extent, the set is functional—it has an interactive kickstand and working steering, as well as a detachable engine cover that hides an ‘engine’ made from LEGO parts. And for good measure, there’s even a spare wheel.

Elsewhere, the two-seater—which sports the Vespa logo, of course—harks back to its heyday with replicas of an Italian license plate and helmet dating back to the 1960s. Its basket stores a pretty flower bouquet for a pop of color.

“Working with the Vespa team to create this stunning automotive masterpiece was an incredible experience. Recreating the details of the original model to celebrate the classic 1960’s Vespa was one of my favorite parts of designing this set,” notes LEGO Group senior designer Florian Muller. “The set offered me a chance to step back in time and let my imagination flow while designing, and we hope the experience is the same for fans.”
Marco Lambri, who leads the Piaggio Group Design Center, adds:
“As designers, the challenge was to have the soft shapes of Vespa coexist with the form of LEGO bricks, a challenge I believe we met with flying colors.”

Just like the real scooter, you need to be old enough to maneuver this two-wheeler. Due to its elaborate design, the Vespa 125 set is one for the grownups.
The nostalgic kit is now available on LEGO.com for US$99.99.
