So you just had a dream of your teeth falling out. What does it mean? Rather than brooding in the fleeting past, HomeGoods is converting dreams into something actionable—allowing you to design your room even in your sleep.
The new HomeGoodsDreamVibes.com analyzes dreams to decipher your state of mind, and then recommends a personalized mood board, or your ‘Dream Vibe’, to invite positivity into your waking life. It turns out a dream is a wish your room makes.
Dreamers are first asked to describe their dream, either in a 500-letter description or by recording a 30-second audio clip. A quick multiple-choice questionnaire studies their emotions during those moments, before an IBM Natural Language Understanding algorithm diagnoses their aesthetic.
In mere minutes, you’ll find out which décor items, colors, textures, and shapes your environment might need, based on your subconscious.
“HomeGoods inspires its customers to discover unexpected finds they didn’t even know they wanted,” explains Sarah Ajamian, Manager of Marketing at HomeGoods. “We created Dream Vibes to spark new home design inspiration, and we can’t wait to see how consumers will use their dreams to help breathe new life into their favorite spaces.”
In case you’re wondering, describing a nightmare won’t prompt anything disastrous. The tool, instead, dissects bad dreams to uncover attributes you may be seeking in real life.
According to Apartment Therapy, one mood named ‘I Need A Hug’ recommends incorporating woven accents, cozy textiles, and warm neutrals in rooms to comfort the soul.
During our experience with the feature, it detected nuances of anxiety and fear, and suggested that we filled our living space with bright sunny details. You can give HomeGoods’ Dream Vibes generator a go here.
