Much has changed since 1933, but Lacoste reminds in a whimsical new campaign that its famous crocodile has remained a constant. Whether young or old, people can always rely on their Lacoste gear—and yet it’s surprising when they find a kindred spirit in the same attire.
Entitled Unexpected Encounters, the new photographic campaign pictures delightful moments when vastly different people coincidentally wear the same thing. It illustrates how Lacoste and its crocodile transcend age and backgrounds, serving as a common ground for people from all walks of life.
Irish photographer Ronan Gallagher brought his spontaneous documentary style into the shoot, while French director Laure Atanasyan created impactful stories from those humorous moments. The campaign was helmed by advertising agency BETC.
For a touch of authenticity, a diverse cast fronts the visuals. Most of them had never even modeled before.
“On a beach, Marga meets Anis —who could be the same age as her grandson—and is surprised to be wearing the same pink polo shirt as him. A skater wears the same bucket hat as a little girl; is it worn over the eyes or up? And what can two ‘socks & slides’ individuals say to each other when they cross paths?” BETC ponders.
