Miami Fashion Week Takes To The Metaverse With Digital Showcases

The metaverse continues to grow as it hosts the Miami Fashion Week, the latest fashion event hosted in the virtual realm. The physical show took place from June 31 to June 5 after a two-year hiatus. With sustainability as its main theme, Miami made its mark by also hosting an array of digital events that took place in the Decentraland virtual world.
The events took place in the platform’s Metaverse Group’s Fashion Estate which is located in the Luxury Fashion District in Decentraland. A virtual L’Atelier was opened on June 3 and stayed open for the duration of the event. Non-fungible tokens were given out to guests as a gift and could be utilized in the virtual and real world.

Digital fashion brand DressX and Web3 innovation lab Kollectiff have also collaborated with Miami Fashion Week for avatar models, catwalks, and a virtual products bazaar. On the roof of the L’Atelier, there was a live broadcast of a sustainability panel show held by DressX on June 5 which marked the end of the virtual event. It was streamed live from the physical Miami Fashion Week location to close off the event, inviting people to attend both the online and real-life shows.
Miami was chosen as the place to hold the digital fashion show collaboration in an effort to turn Miami into the most technologically-advanced city in the world. This collaboration is a big step forward in the fashion industry in marrying the real and virtual world together.
