Your WhatsApp Memories Can Now Move Along With You From Android To iPhone

In recent years, there’s been one main obstacle preventing those using an Android smartphone from switching to an iPhone: the fact that you couldn’t transfer your WhatsApp archive.
As CNET notes, with over two billion people using the app as their main form of communication, this certainly wasn’t a small problem.
Now, those thinking of changing allegiances can finally breathe a sigh of relief, as Apple has created Move to iOS, an app that helps bring your contacts, calendar, message, and pictures over to an iPhone—and now, WhatsApp archive data can be moved too.
According to TechCrunch, the new function has begun rolling out in beta and will reach all users in about a week’s time.
“We’re adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption,” confirmed Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg in a post.
To successfully make the switch via Move to iOS, users have to be using an iPhone running on iOS 15.5 or later, an Android running on Lollipop (Android 5) or later, the most recent version of Move to iOS (available on the Google Play Store), and an updated version of WhatsApp for Android.
