Adidas Embarks On Culinary Trip With Shoes Inspired By Restaurants Worldwide

In a rather rare matchup of food and fashion, Adidas recently revealed it is working on a culinary collection inspired by a slew of 11 restaurants all over the world, with its first launch starting in Dubai.
For the first installment of the ‘Adilicious’ series, the sportswear giant teamed up with family-owned restaurant Ravi, tucked away in Al Satwa, that’s been famed for its authentic Pakistani cuisine since it was founded in 1978.
In fact, according to Gear Patrol, Ravi is so iconic, gourmand Anthony Bourdain once visited the site for its delectable chicken tikka and daal fry.
Although most of us won’t be able to jettison our way to Dubai to tuck into the delicious goodness, there’s one way to pay homage to the restaurant’s legacy: with Adidas’ Superstar Ravi, launching on June 23, 2022.
The Superstar silhouette has been reimagined in Ravi’s signature colors of white, off-white, and green, with the year the restaurant was established displayed on the heel tab, just below the Arabic and English iterations of its name.
In addition, a hand-drawn map of Ravi—the river that flows through Pakistan by which the shop was named—appears on the sneakers’ liner, with six of the establishment’s most popular menu items printed on the inside of the tongue.
“It’s humbling to see so many cultures and communities coming together to celebrate our traditions and roots through food,” said Chaudary Abdul Hameed, founder of Ravi.
“We’ve been feeding the people of Dubai for over 40 years, across different generations, and now bringing our story to the table in a different way is a moment for our family to be proud of,” he added.
Any bets on which other community-led restaurants will feature in future launches?
