New Apple Watch App Lets You Watch YouTube Right On Your Wrist
By Nicole Rodrigues, 23 Jun 2022
In addition to the multitude of things the Apple Watch can already do, watching YouTube videos has now been added to it. With a new app called WatchTube, you can have access to YouTube and its millions of videos right from your wrist.
All you would need to do is download the app from the watchOS App Store and you will be good to go. Unlike a lot of other functions that were not already provided by Apple, that make you jump through hoops to use, WatchTube has a fairly simple user experience.
Right from launching the app, you can start watching videos. Not only that, but you can also use it just as you would on your iPhone or web browser. Home, Search, Library, and Settings are all there sitting on your wrist, with the default feed being the trending tab.
The Apple Series 7 keyboard works best with the app, but you can still use dictation or scribble a search into the search bar if you’re running on previous models.
The only minor setback is that the app is local, meaning it's not connected to your actual YouTube account. Still, the app provides a QR code for you to scan with your phone if you’re planning to watch a certain video later. An audio-only mode is also available on the app, allowing users to listen to music directly from the app.
Technology really has become boundless in the last few years as just a decade back, no one would have thought they could look down at their wrist to find a video staring back at them.
