Halsey Auctions Off Drawings Created Live To Raise Funds For Reproductive Rights

Pop star Halsey has partnered with Sotheby’s to auction off five untitled drawings—which she created with paint marker on canvas during live shows—to benefit reproductive rights, which has recently come back into the spotlight due to the controversy surrounding Roe v Wade.

Impressively, according to Artnet News, the singer drew each of the five works in front of thousands of fans while singing along to an untitled track at different concerts. The pieces depict groups of androgynous faces, inspired by the individual spirits of the five crowds she played in front of, filled with abstract lines and color sprinkled throughout. 

There’s no doubt that reproductive rights, and abortion, in particular, are a cause Halsey holds dear to her heart. As Rolling Stone notes, the multi-talented artist had written an essay in Vogue documenting the three miscarriages she suffered before her 24th birthday. She also penned that an abortion saved her life due to complications. 

Each illustration is expected to fetch US$7,000, with all proceeds from the sale of her work going towards the National Network of Abortion Funds.
