YEEZY Gap Store Designed By Kanye West Opens, And You’ll Have To ‘Dumpster-Dive’

Kanye West is taking over Gap and Times Square with the opening of the new YEEZY Gap store. The retail location is a long time coming, with the Gap having collaborated with West and Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia to bring YEEZY x Gap Engineered by Balenciaga earlier this year.
The store’s opening saw a whole city block being shut down as fans eagerly waited outside, in the torrid summer weather, for the doors to open.
The interior is quintessentially in West’s vision with its gray walls, minimal décor, and large bins of clothes instead of racks—following a utilitarian, minimalist design that’s a universe away from Gap’s usual interior design. West was involved in the design of the store.

The collection ranges from several classic basics–hoodies, shirts, sweaters, the usual–in faded gray and earth tone colorways.
It was announced that only a portion of the clothes will be available at the physical store, but you’ll have to dumpster-dive into the bins of clothes to determine what is in store and what’s not.
To mark the launch of the collection, Demna has even designed a video game as a follow-up to Balenciaga’s FW21 game.
In the game, you can deck your avatars out in the YEEZY x Gap collection. Whether you want to keep it simple in just sweatpants and a hoodie or go full out in a body suit and face mask, that’s entirely up to you.
After which, your character will take to the skies, soaring among red clouds and white doves. Every time a white dove is hit, your character gains speed. If you miss a bird, you’ll fall to the ground.
West’s creative mind always keeps him one step ahead of the game, from cars to homes, and now what we can only expect as the store as being his first move in reshaping Gap as we know it.
