Balenciaga Creates Luxurious ‘Trash Bags’ To Take Out The Garbage In Style
By Nicole Rodrigues, 05 Aug 2022

Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia is proving to the world that having “trash” taste may not always be a bad thing.
In the brand’s latest stunt, the luxury streetwear label has whipped out a US$1,790 trash bag for all your trash needs: the aptly-named ‘Trash Pouch’. Leave it to Balenciaga to find a way to turn literally anything into innovative fashion.
While it has experimented with the trash look in the past, it has at least tried to find a creative way to market it. Now, it seems the notion of trying to create something interesting has been dumped for a thousand-dollar trash bag instead.
The design was debuted at the latest Winter 2022 fashion show, where fashion enthusiasts weren’t only treated to a show but also a poignant look at the ongoing Ukraine war and the lives of refugees—set against the backdrop of a raging winter on the runway to represent the climate crisis.

The bag is made from calfskin instead of the usual cheap plastic black trash bags, and comes in four different colors: black, blue and black, yellow and black, and white and red. It also has a drawstring to keep your garbage safe.
On the front, subtle branding is etched into the carrier to remind everyone this isn’t run-of-the-mill litter. A coating was given to the bag to replicate that famous garbage bag shine.
Obviously, the internet chimed in to add to the proverbial dumpster fire and roasted the item so hard it ended up trending through the weekend.

If you don’t see the beauty in the Balenciaga trash bag you just don’t understand fashion. It only costs $1,790. pic.twitter.com/eWP7XbzBB5

Nevertheless, there’s no doubt that there are people who will buy the bag to take out the trash in style, proving there’s nothing Balenciaga can’t sell.
