TikTok has recently joined the AI-generated art game by creating a simplified version as a filter for its users.
The filter works as a text-to-image generator that creates unique artwork based on keywords you feed it. After which, the masterpiece can be used as a green screen in a TikTok video.
While the art produced is nowhere near the level of OpenAI’s DALL-E, it nevertheless has conjured up some rather beautiful and interesting imagery. Plus, it’s free, and DALL-E requires a subscription.
In fact, a new trend has been going around on the platform where people are putting in their birthdays to see how they might have died in a past life. A different trend has people entering their names to see what the AI deems as their aesthetic.
When opening the filter, it immediately provides its own prompts such as “Astronaut in the Ocean”, “Flower Galaxy”, and “Erupting Rainbow Volcano”.
Below are some more images that we tested out when taking the new filter out for a spin.

AI art is slowly creeping into our mainstream media. However, it is not without scrutiny. According to TechCrunch, when sexual or violent words are used as prompts, the AI will produce a warped image, hinting at the word but never fully showing it. The result is a dreamlike version of the prompt that looks twisted and deformed.
However, TikTok is still to be credited for taking this new art medium and making it accessible to the masses. With similar tools still remaining only available to a select group of people, and with how much news about AI art there is, this could definitely help people get more acquainted with the technology.
