Mark Zuckerberg Sends Internet In Titters After Taking ‘Selfie’ In VR ‘France’
By Alexa Heah, 18 Aug 2022
Mark Zuckerberg’s latest “selfie” from the metaverse is drawing some hot takes.
Earlier in April, the Meta founder showed off his virtual-reality “home office” in Horizon Worlds—an “immersive social experience” launched last year for users to explore, play, and create together in an online world.
Now, the platform has announced it will be available to users aged 18 or older in France and Spain as part of its plan to bring the VR experience to Europe this year.
However, instead of ooh-ing, aah-ing, or ooh-la-la-ing at Horizon Worlds’ global expansion, social media users have taken to throwing not-so-subtle jabs at less-than-stellar graphics seen in the image, in which Zuckerberg resembles a Sim and “France” looks like a backdrop from a poorly-designed video game.
In fact, Twitter user Josh Johnson drew comparisons to the graphics seen in The Legend of Zelda, which was released over two decades ago.
“So immersive! Honestly, how are you supposed to tell the difference between this and the real world?” another user sarcastically remarked.
Check out other humorous takes below.
Just look at how far we’ve come in 24 years. Mind blowing to behold. This is truly the future. pic.twitter.com/8BjSRZb4eD
