Ricola Rolls Out Global Brand Design That Sings To Its Swiss Alpine Roots

Think herbal cough drops, and Ricola is usually the first to come to mind.
Though the iconic brand has had a foothold in the global market for decades, it’s introducing a brand-new global redesign in hopes of appealing to new consumers seeking natural alternative candies that not only taste good but are also good for you.
The brand collaborated with creative agency Lewis Moberly to come up with its new branding, drawing on a “confident contemporary stance,” to emphasize its core roots of being made with herbs from Switzerland’s Alpines, together with a modernized logo for a facelift.
Now, upon opening the candy’s signature click-box lid, fans will be greeted with a panoramic scene of the Alps, with the images changing from flavor to flavor—akin to a breath of fresh air within a box.
“Staying true to the essence of the brand was very important. Ricola prompts pleasure through its affinity and commitment to nature—a brand for everyone, everyday, everywhere,” quipped Thomas P Meier, CEO of Ricola.
“The packaging design is the key ambassador for the brand. It’s the moment of truth. The new design is more impactful, engaging, and informative. It has the integrity and quality inherent in our brand values,” it added.
