Taco Bell Wants To Officiate Your Wedding… In The Metaverse, For Real
By Nicole Rodrigues, 26 Aug 2022
Wedding bells are ringing in the metaverse and they’re being rung by none other than the bell(e) of all fast-food chains, Taco Bell.
Five years after officially beginning its wedding hosting service on the side, the joint is now looking to officially marry people in Decentraland.
In order to be one of the lucky couples to gain the legal virtual privilege of getting married through your love of food, you would first need to submit a video detailing your love story.
Within that, fans will also have to describe why they should be married by Taco Bell, and, of course, why they love its food so much.
If you do win, you will be treated to a completely traditional and yet extremely outlandish wedding experience equipped with virtual rings, vows, toasts, dancing, and a livestream of your happy day to your beloved guests.
The brand will also ask the winning couple to provide details on their ideal outfits, the aisle they wish to walk down, and the officiator for the ceremony. A yet-to-be-named designer will then create it for them.
Of course, a story such as this won’t be complete without the appearance of non-fungible tokens. The couple’s outfits will be presented to them as wearable tokens, and their wedding certificate will be minted by the company.
Since the inception of Taco Bell’s Las Vegas Cantina location-turned-wedding-chapel, a total of 777 couples have gotten married under the eyes of the great taco in the sky.
Now, the Yum Brands chain is banking on the rise of the metaverse, social media, and online dating by marrying all three in one crazy marketing experiment.
