Have Trouble Sleeping? Glamping Spot Sends Real Sheep To Count As You Nod Off
By Nicole Rodrigues, 29 Sep 2022
If you’ve ever had trouble falling asleep, someone would have told you to count sheep in your head till you drift off. The age-old advice is now being brought to life with a bed and breakfast in Sussex Downs, Sussex, which sends sheep to roam around guests until they feel drowsy.
Set up by sleep technology company Emma Sleep, the ‘Shleep Sanctuary’ invites two lucky guests to tuck themselves into a glass pod under the Welsh night sky while a herd grazes by their resting quarters.
They will be served dinner in the evening, followed by a relaxing walk through the paddock back to their glamping spot, where they’re encouraged to count the animals. And if they can’t relax, they can look out the windowed dome and watch the numbered sheep trot around the field.
The pair will then be taken to a yoga class and a farm-to-table breakfast in the morning.
According to Metro, Emma Sleep conducted a poll and found an alarming number of people who declared that falling asleep was challenging this year. For example, 21% of people were kept up at night worrying about the rising cost of living, while 23% were kept up due to stress from work.
The Shleep Sanctuary was created to provide a safe space where people can detach from their real lives and sit under the stars.
Sleep scientist Theresa Schnorbach noted that counting sheep has been an effective visualization technique with the potential to lower heart rates and send people off to get their 40 winks. Now, this practice will take the form of the real-life animals.
