Blockbuster Store Is Alive & Kicking Again In Los Angeles… As A Speakeasy
By Nicole Rodrigues, 03 Nov 2022
Blockbuster is still surviving—though not as a video rental store, but as a speakeasy in Los Angeles.
A new bar in Melrose is inviting 90s and 2000s babies to relive the good old days from when movies weren’t just a click of a button away. Guests will be able to peruse the aisles of the rental store once more, but instead of picking out Die Hard or The Lion King, the rows will be filled with menus and posters of drinks to choose from.
They will then proceed to the counter, where they will have to check it out with a Blockbuster membership card, a drink ticket made to look like the 2000s relic.
The drinks menu includes throwbacks such as Yoo Hoo, Gusher, Zima, Crystal Clear Pepsi, and Orbitz to bring you back to the aughts. There are also mocktail versions of the beverages if you’re a teetotaller.
Blockbuster has officially licensed the popup, which will open its doors on November 19. A ticket for US$45 will get you two drinks.
So, if you’re ready to head back down to Blockbuster once again, you will have to book through Bucketlisters.
