LEGO Introduces Majestic, 10,001-Piece Eiffel Tower Set—It’s As Tall As A Child
By Mikelle Leow, 16 Nov 2022
Soon, you’ll be able to take as many selfies of your fingers pinching the top of the Eiffel Tower—and at the comfort of your home, too. LEGO has unveiled a stunning replica of the Parisian landmark that’s so realistic, all it’s missing are the Seine River and photo-op-hungry tourists.
At 4.8 feet tall, the Eiffel Tower build is LEGO’s tallest set yet, comparable to the height of a school-age child or one very long baguette.
It’s worlds apart from the earlier set of the same monument—retired in effect from this launch—which contained just 321 pieces. Made up of 10,001 parts, the latest, more elaborate rendition invites builders to admire the iron tower’s intricate truss-work up close, something not all travelers have been able to do at the actual attraction.
The toymaker describes that the set showcases intriguing LEGO building techniques. You’ll get to walk in the shoes of an architect and imagine the process of adding to the Eiffel Tower’s cross bracing—and even work on the landscaping at the esplanade below by decorating it with trees, benches, and lamp posts.
The Eiffel Tower mini-me also depicts three observation decks, elevators, a broadcast tower, an office at the top, and the Tricore flag at its tip.
The set is divided into four primary sections, allowing builders to easily assemble it or take it down.
Of course, this isn’t meant to be a casual build and it can get pretty repetitive; LEGO envisions it being for adults aged 18 and up. With that being said, the Eiffel Tower set isn’t LEGO’s most ambitious at-home project yet—its replica of the world map, released last year, contains 11,695 elements.
“We wanted to find the ultimate LEGO expression for the engineering and architectural masterpiece that is the Eiffel tower,” shares LEGO designer Rok Zgalin Kobe in a press release. “We followed the structural principles of the original tower as closely as the LEGO System would allow.”
“During the build you’ll uncover interesting, novel LEGO building techniques that bring the tower’s architectural features to life in LEGO bricks,” Kobe adds. “Once complete, you can imagine the breath-taking feeling of standing at the top and looking across the rich history of the city of Paris. It is the perfect set for travel and architecture fans alike.”
And yes, you get to gaze at the ‘Eiffel Tower’ all day without brushing shoulders with strangers—but we didn’t say this privilege will come cheap. When the LEGO Eiffel Tower set launches on November 25, fans will be able to purchase it for US$629.99.
