Bumble Adds ‘Compliments’ Feature So You Can Make Someone’s Day More Precious

One of the most important ways to show your appreciation for someone is by paying them a compliment, especially if words of affirmation happen to be among their love languages.
So it goes without saying that daters will likely gain more brownie points when they send kind, sweet words to a potential love interest. This is the premise of Bumble’s latest feature, ‘Compliments’, which allows users to compliment others before they even match with them.
Anyone can send a Compliment to someone else, says Bumble. Users will find a new yellow icon with a heart alongside segments of a potential match’s profile, enabling them to compliment a person’s bio, photo, or profile prompt. When you tap on one of these icons, a text box will appear, and you’ll have 150 characters to deliver a fun and positive comment.
There’s no need to overthink it—compliments can be as small as how much you enjoy the funny slogan on the other person’s T-shirt, how lovely you think their tattoo is, or the way their cat leers creepily into the lens. You don’t have to be a poet; just be genuine.
Although, there is a limit of one free Compliment per day, so Bumble says to make each one count. Should you find the need to send another one, you can purchase more Compliments.
By the way, sending a Compliment counts as a right swipe, so only do this for someone you’re interested in matching with.
If you’ve been sent a Compliment, you’ll see it on the profile of the compliment-giver when their name pops up during the swiping stage. You can respond in kind by swiping right, and a conversation between the both of you will then commence. Compliments will appear in your feed for 24 hours before they expire.
“Starting a connection with a Compliment is not only flattering, but it can also help make your conversations kinder and lead to more meaningful matches,” says the dating app.
