Bugatti Releases World’s First Smartwatch Constructed From Carbon Fiber
By Nicole Rodrigues, 09 Dec 2022
Bugatti has taken everything it knows about creating hypercars with carbon fiber bodies and translated it into a smartwatch.
The car manufacturer delivers the first-ever carbon fiber-bodied watch, the Bugatti Carbone Limited Edition. The company created the lightweight and rugged timepiece from a solid block of CNC, a nod back to its Bugatti Chiron.
And if its body wasn’t striking enough, it houses a 390 by 390 AMOLED screen with a 16.7 million color display. Thanks to its carbon body, the gadget can also host 22% more battery than the company’s previous smartwatch, the Bugatti Ceramique Edition One.
With this, the watch can show its always-on display for up to 15 days. But that is if you turn its GPS function off. Speaking of which, its GPS has been embedded into the material of the timepiece.
The Carbone can monitor 90 health and sports metrics, including sensing stress levels. But, of course, as a car manufacturer made it, its ability to sync up with its cars’ lap times, speed, and acceleration is a strong suit.
Bugatti is limiting the watch sales to just 2,500 lucky fans. Each timepiece will be sold at US$2,700 and can be paired with iPhones on iOS 13.0 and Android 7 or higher.
