Remember back in the day when you had to run off to another site to generate your top nine Instagram photos to sum up your year? Last year, Instagram made it easier to create those overviews in-app with ‘Playback’, a feature to create montages using Stories from your past year.
For 2021, the social media platform is introducing Recap Reels that you can automatically bring to life with just a few of your favorite photos or videos. This is how they look, according to a graphic sent to Engadget:
To create your 2022 Recap, you simply have to select at least three photos or videos, and up to 14 media assets, which will instantly be stitched into a high-quality vertical video. You can also pick your preferred narrated template featuring the voices of stars like Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, American record producer DJ Khaled, Indian rapper Badshah, and Priah Ferguson of Stranger Things fame.
The feature rolled out on Monday, so you should be able to access it now—and if not, check back soon. Some users may receive a popup to create their 2022 Recap Reels directly on the main feed. You can also head over to the Reels tab to start generating these TikTok-like videos right away.
In other news: As is tradition, Spotify has released its ‘Wrapped’ end-of-year roundups celebrating your listening habits from the past 12 months. This time, it decided to switch things up by revealing your music personality type, inspired by the famed Myers-Briggs test.
