Spotify Tunes Into Web3 With Playlists Exclusively For NFT Holders
Spotify has announced another new venture for its listeners: non-fungible-token-enabled playlists. It follows another unveiling this week when the music streaming platform came forward with a new artificially-intelligent ‘DJ’.
Now, Spotify is tuning into the cryptocurrency market and allowing blockchain wallets such as Overlord to host their own curations of songs on the app and only giving access to those who own their tokens.

Members of certain communities, such as Fluf, Moonbirds, and Overlord, can connect their crypto wallets holding one of the Ethereal NFTs to access exclusive Spotify content. For example, those who are part of the Overlord ‘Creepz’ NFT community can click on the playlist and be redirected to your preferred wallets, such as MetaMask or Ledger. All you’ll have to do after that is sign in and start listening.
According to Decrypt, Overlord has included songs such as Vitamin C by CAN, Shimmy Shimmy Ya by Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and Rocket Man by Elton John, to give you a taste of what it has in store.
On the other hand, bands such as Kingship—a group of fictional members à la Gorillaz—are producing Key Cards that fans can acquire to unlock token-gated playlists.
