Japan is fascinating to the rest of the world for many things, one of which is the level of creativity behind the eye-catching packaging designs that adorn store shelves throughout the country.
To make its mark in the land of the rising sun, American soda giant Coca-Cola has been producing limited-edition bottles that showcase celebrated local landmarks and monuments across different regions since 2017.
Most recently, according to SoraNews24, a new bottle design has popped up, rolling out across the nation.
Dubbed ‘Coca-Cola Slim Bottle Japanese Pattern Design’, the beverage’s latest packaging encapsulates Japanese culture by featuring instantly-recognizable motifs from one of the country’s most famed artists—Katsushika Hokusai.
With just a glance, fans will be able to spot an impression of The Great Wave off Kanagawa—along with Mount Fuji of more prominent propotion than the original artwork—against the bottle’s red backdrop. Though the colors of the artworks have been muted to suit the brand’s palette, the designs still stand out among the sea of soda bottles.
The publication reported that the 250 ml (8.4 oz) bottle has gone on sale since February 27, though it’s not known when the special-edition release will disappear from grocery stores.
