Burger King Sets Doritos Billboard Alight For Literal Flame-Grilled Touch
By Alexa Heah, 08 Mar 2023
To commemorate the launch of a new partnership between Burger King and Doritos, the fast-food chain decided to flame-grill an outdoor billboard advertisement, paying tribute to the restaurant’s iconic charcoal flavor.
The stunt, which was conducted during controlled settings, resulted in a 48-sheet sign set alight in front of a Burger King outlet—bringing a literal meaning to the chain’s ‘Flame Grilling since 1954’ slogan.

According to The Drum, the in-person advertisement, devised by public relations firm Splendid Communications, was a hit among guests at the scene, who were able to warm themselves up in front of the blazing billboard during a chilly night.
A Doritos spokesperson told the publication that upon seeing the smoke, onlookers “put two-and-two together” and were drawn in by the hoarding going up in flames. Saying the collaboration was something “only a few would expect,” and more surprises could be coming in the near future.
