Subway Drags In Fast-Food Rivals’ Burgers To Show Off Value Of Its Sandwiches

Subway is making other fast-food chains bite off more than they can chew, literally, with a series of snarky billboards measuring its menu items against theirs.
With the cost of living on the rise, the sandwich joint is reminding customers in Australia that its offerings have “indisputably” better value than those of other quick-service food businesses, News.com.au reports. In this economy, size matters, it seems.
Billboards peppered around the country spotlight fast-food sandwiches known and named for their substantiality, like the Big Mac and Whopper, though they only take up a small portion of the advertising space. Most of it is dominated by imagery of Subway’s footlong subs.

“Yep, our footlongs are really that big,” the banners declare.
Subway hasn’t named its competitors, but the campaign’s cheeky visuals show that McDonald’s, Burger King (that’s Hungry Jacks in Australia), and KFC are the ones being targeted.
In a witty video, the brand seemingly instructs its creative staff to push the sub all the way back so that it finally matches the scale of a Whopper.
According to the news report, a Big Mac in Australia is priced at about AU$7.50 (US$5), while Subway’s more “value-for-money” footlong Meatball Melt sandwich costs AU$9.50 (US$6.34).
A spokesperson for Subway Australia and New Zealand says that the company stands out with not just bang-for-your-buck sandwiches but also healthier options, while remaining convenient for the masses.
