Kellogg’s Bakes Up Crocheted ‘Pop-Tartigans’ For Warming Flavors You Can Wear
By Mikelle Leow, 31 Mar 2023
If feeling toasty all day long sounds like a very sweet dream to you, how about wrapping yourself up in a sweater of Pop-Tarts?
In honor of its latest, coziest flavor yet, Pop-Tarts has stitched a deal with crochet artisan London Kaye and her posse to hand-knit ‘Pop-Tartigans’ as wearable accompaniments for the new Frosted Banana Bread Pop-Tarts, snacks that emulate “the familiar aroma of freshly baked banana bread” with hits of banana, molasses, and warm spices.
The old-fashioned cardigans are inspired by what Gen Z likes to call the “Grandma era” lifestyle, in which younger individuals look to the good old days with unhurried hobbies like baking and sewing. Both the outerwear and the snack, however, are “shortcuts” to the Grandma era, since fans won’t have to pick up a ball of yarn or rolling pin to live the nostalgic dream.
The Pop-Tartigans arrive in three styles—classic, ‘Crop-Tartigan’, and ‘Toasty Hug Shrug’—to feed all layering needs, with each one decked out in a ‘granny square’ crochet pattern reminiscent of the brand’s golden-brown pastries and sugary frosting.
Since every piece is freshly hand-prepared, there’ll only be a batch of 60 sweaters to go around. But all hope’s not lost. Natural-born nanas (meemaws, not the fruit) who wish to embrace the #grandmacore life on their own terms can still slow down as the brand is also releasing a crochet template on social media for fans to craft their own Pop-Tartigans at home.
The sweet cardigans first rolled out on BananaBreadPopTarts.com on March 29, with two additional drops scheduled for March 31 and April 4.
