KAWS Revamps Brooklyn Nets’ Black & White Uniforms With A Playful Spin
By Mikelle Leow, 11 Apr 2023
KAWS is marking his first collaboration with a professional sports organization with two X’s. The Brooklyn-based artist has been engaged by the Brooklyn Nets to design its Nike 2023–2024 City Edition kit, and he’s responded by adding some bounce to the black and white team colors.
The 2023–2024 design, following the basketball team’s uniforms from last year that paid tribute to Jean-Michel Basquiat, overhauls the Nets wordmark in balloon lettering, which would undeniably make the name stand out on the court.

The branding is emblazoned on a jersey with a pattern reminiscent of KAWS’ 2019 Tension series, Highsnobiety reports.
The childlike theme continues into the shorts, with the trademark ‘XX’ motif of KAWS, real name Brian Donnelly, stamped onto the waistband. Finally, the graffiti artist seals his involvement with an autograph near the corner of the shorts.
The special gear will head to the Nets’ online shop and the team’s Barclays Center store in the fall.
