Kraft Spreads Love With Dating Experiment Showing Mayo Fans Are More Adored
By Nicole Rodrigues, 25 Apr 2023
Love or hate it, your mayonnaise preferences could affect your dating life. Kraft Real Mayo might not be the first place you go for romantic advice, but it has whipped up some new ways to get you one or two more dates online.
The condiments company held a social experiment called Swipe Right for Mayo ahead of National Lover’s Day on April 23 by adding mayonnaise to dating profiles and seeing how people reacted to the admission.
Now, of all the condiments out there, it is true that mayo does bring about the most amount of discourse. However, its polarizing sentiment might be the thing to set you on your path to finding your next date, whether you enjoy it in your bologna sandwich or you don’t.
In the experiment, the brand created identical profiles for the same person on an unidentified dating app and featured love for the spread prominently on one but not on the other. Then, it took to the pool of potential partners and swiped through several matches to see how these would fare. Finally, after thousands of swipes in different states, including New York, Los Angeles, and Miami—the brand had its answer.
There was a 74% up in matches and a 16% increased chance of getting a message if you stated your love for the condiment.
A recent study showed that food tastes could make or break the chances of romance blossoming. So it’s no surprise that other mayo lovers are attracted to each other and have sought out other like-minded people.
Thanks to the results, Kraft is allowing fans to ‘mayonize’ their profiles by sending in their pictures and bios and letting the brand photoshop and rewrite them.
