Toyota Uses Toy Car Mishaps To Show Drunk Drivers Are Like Kids Behind The Wheel

“I’ve only had a pint of beer. It’s not that bad; I can drive.” Has such a thought ever crossed your mind? Unfortunately, many come to regret being misguided by their inebriated selves.
Under the influence, drivers often overestimate their physical and mental abilities. A new spot by Toyota, however, underscores that drunk driving is akin to putting a child behind the wheel, citing research suggesting an intoxicated driver’s reflexes and coordination are similar to those of an eight-year-old.
Created by advertising agency DAVID São Paulo, Toyota Kids chronicles toy car accidents to convey the dire consequences a motorist might face if they willfully take the wheel after consuming alcohol.
Although Toyota cars are equipped with ‘Safety Sense’ technology to warn drivers of impending hazards, the automaker stresses that it is not enough to overcome intoxication.
