Google Unleashes Force Of Long-Rumored Pixel Fold On ‘Star Wars’ Day
By Nicole Rodrigues, 05 May 2023
Rumors of a foldable Pixel phone had been swirling around Google for a while now, and finally, the company is ready to fully show off just what it had been crafting behind the scenes.
The Pixel Fold was first unveiled via a video on Twitter and YouTube titled May the Fold be with you , in honor of Star Wars Day. In the video, you’ll see the phone opening into a tablet-like display like the Samsung Galaxy Fold. When closed, it has a smaller screen on its exterior that you will likely be able to access much of the device through. Its back cameras look similar to the current Pixel 7.

What is not included in the video are any specifications or details about the device. Those will be revealed next week during Google’s I/O 2023. However, some information from previous leaks has been circulating.
According to Gizmodo, the gadget will have a bigger battery than Samsung’s most recent Fold 4. In addition, it is rumored to feature an increased 5.8-inch front display with a 17.4:9 aspect ratio on the outside, a 6:5 aspect ratio on the inside, and a 120 Hz refresh rate throughout. It is also said to have a highly durable hinge, which might save users from worrying about the smartphone loosening up over time.
On the photography side, the camera will likely be a 48 MP primary hardware with a 1.8 MP ultrawide and a 10.8 MP telephoto lens accompanying it.
There is no news on the price, although CNBC previously reported that it might cost up to US$1,700 or close to US$1.800, the same price as the Samsung Fold 4. However, you can put your name down for a pre-order before it is fully announced.
