NSFW: Japanese Adult Magazine Recruits AI-Generated Model For Risqué ‘Photos’ NSFW
By Mikelle Leow, 30 May 2023
In an age where unrealistic body standards are being proliferated, don’t say you never saw synthetic, non-human models coming. With tools like Midjourney rapidly gaining traction, these characters will likely keep spawning, with no signs of quitting.
In Japan, a magazine called Weekly Playboy has cast a busty humanlike model to appear scantily clad in its pictures. Not to be confused with the American Playboy, this zine is helmed by Japanese publisher Shueisha and is reputed for its gravure shoots, a genre placing models in provocative settings without them going nude.

The digital newcomer, Ai Satsuki, is described as being born in Tokyo on May 29, 2006. She’s 5’1” tall, and enjoys gaming in her free time.
As noted by SoraNews24, “Ai” is a pretty common name in Japan that also translates to mean love. However, in this case, the avatar’s managers at Shueisha have bestowed this name upon her as a nod to the way she was created.

“Even if she doesn’t actually exist, the love for her that sprouts in your heart is real,” the magazine insists.
The talent’s appearance is said to be based on “men’s ideals,” which, as Ai’s design suggests, consist of doe eyes, and pronounced curves in a petite frame.

The image of Ai Satsuki will likely drum up conversations about the objectification of women in many parts of the world. With that said, readers of Weekly Playboy are also split on her introduction, albeit for different reasons.
As quoted in the report, while some are fascinated by her “cute” looks, others point out that the beauty of the gravure idol industry is that models are humanized and share aspects of their lives with others. “Actual idols have daily lives and life experiences, and I think that’s what makes fans really feel attached to them and want to help them succeed,” one social media user quips.
On the other hand, some justify that artificial models won’t be subjected to industry issues like “scheduling problems” or conflicts with their talent agencies.
