Nike Debuts First Soccer Boot Created By Women, Especially For Female Athletes

To allow female soccer players’ skills to shine through, Nike recently launched the Phantom Luna—its first-ever soccer boot created especially for women athletes. The special footwear was crafted with insights from professionals for “those obsessed with perfecting their craft.”
One of the cleat’s highlights is its Nike Cyclone 360 traction pattern, which helps players make quick and agile movements so they can cut through the field with speed and force while never slipping up during important moments.
In addition, the shoe’s Amplified Touch comprises the Nike Gripknit to ensure a stickier, better touch. The brand has expanded the material to cover the first two laces of the shoe, giving players extra surface area with which to control the direction of the ball.
Not to mention, the feature’s micro-molding texture works together with the Gripknit to help mold one’s foot to the boot. This, together with asymmetric lacing—which accommodates players with flatter or higher arches—enables players to get the cleanest, most precise strikes of the ball.
With the Women’s World Cup 2023 just around the corner, there couldn’t be a better time for this Nike launch. Perhaps, the Phantom Luna will inspire and equip the next generation of female soccer players to step up onto the pitch.
“Phantom Luna is a direct reflection of Nike’s focus on being her biggest champion. From research to testing to design, we put her at the center of the process,” quipped Dr Elysia Davis, Principal Researcher in the Nike Sport Research Lab.
“With Phantom Luna, we’re offering a boot that is thoughtfully designed for her with a new circular stud pattern and fit, helping athletes to move with precision and confidence on the pitch,” she added.
