Mercedes-AMG Unveils Grand Edition G-Wagen That Gilds Car In Gold

If the regular Mercedes-AMG G63 isn’t fancy enough, don’t sweat it. The German automaker has recently introduced a brand-new G-Wagen ‘Grand Edition’ that’s just as powerful as the original but gilded in gold for extra glitz and glamour.
Of course, this flashy luxury SUV will be an exclusive model, with the marque only producing 1,000 of such cars. Upon first glance, one of the main features that distinguish the Grand Edition from other G63s is the ornate decorations on the vehicle.
According to the firm, each special model sports gold accents that stand out against its special Manufaktur Night Black Mango (matte black) paint, creating an “exciting visual contrast” in tandem for the eyes.
These gilded details—such as the AMG logo and Mercedes star in kalaharigold mango—emphasize important design elements of the off-road vehicle, which, till today, hasn’t undergone any significant changes since its first model was released in 1979.
In addition, the car’s inlays in the front and rear bumpers, as well as the optical underride protection, the Mercedes star in the spare wheel inlay, and the spare wheel ring will be decked out in the shimmering hue.
This black and gold contrast continues within the interior of the G-Wagen, where drivers and passengers will be greeted by “AMG” emblems on the black door sill trims, complete with illuminated borders.
Each seat in the vehicle is finished in G Manufaktur black nappa leather, paired with—you guessed it—contrasting gold stitching. Plaques with a gold AMG logo and edging are embedded into the backrests, while even the floor mats come with gold stitching to match.
“The exclusive interior and extensive equipment further underscore the singular and special nature of this strong-spirited SUV. With the expressive and limited Grand Edition, we are celebrating the success story of the G63, which is far from over,” quipped Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Schiebe.
